Rubber Chicken Theater continues to introduce new theatrical projects to the Northland with the launch of their Live Read Series in which the group will perform staged readings of classic movie scripts.
To kick things off, the group has chosen the best Star Trek movie ever: Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan.
The Live Read will begin at 7:00pm on Saturday, June 2nd at the Spirit of the North Theater in the Fitger's Complex.
Tickets are $10.
The Wrath of Khan was chosen to kick off this brand-new Rubber Chicken Theater project because it is considered by many to be the best of the Star Trek movies. Plus, this summer marks the 30th anniversary of the science fiction classic. Released in the summer of 1982, The Wrath of Khan reunites James T. Kirk, half-Vulcan science officer Mister Spock, Dr. "Bones" McCoy, and the entire crew of the Starship Enterprise as they battle an old enemy--Khan, played in the movie by the glorious bare-chested menace Ricardo Montalban. Khan is a genetically engineered superman who spouts Melville and views Kirk as his great white whale. They battle over a stolen science experiment called Genesis, which brings new life to dead worlds but also has the capability of wiping out entire living planets.
This Rubber Chicken Live Read of The Wrath of Khan will features the vocal talents of Duluth Mayor Don Ness, former TV meteorologist George Kessler, Duluth News Tribune theater reviewer Lawrance Bernabo, KUWS General Manager John Munson, and a score of Rubber Chicken Theater performers. The entire cast list is posted below.
Also, Midi Restaurant will be making Star Trek-themed drinks available for purchase, including their own version of Romulan Ale. (Rubber Chicken Theater promises that the show will be much more entertaining after a few Romulan Ales.)
